Geo - Keyword Domaining
Moniker held their Geo Domain Auction and by many regards, it was failure. I had a couple friends there looking for bargains for me and walked away empty handed for a couple of reasons; an emphasis on geo-location domains (rather than geo-keyword) and inflated reserve pricing.
From a content perspective geo-keyword domains can be heavily monetized, but they often require patience and some minor content generation. But this also brings up another idea why this this auction may not have been successful as prior Moniker auctions, domain availability. I took a quick merge of geo-locations (all 50 states and the top 50 US cities & some popular city abbreviations) combined with some keywords that could be worthy enough to warrant local search and generated about 1200 domain names to check availability.
